SETU Courses delivered at Kildalton College

For over 40 years SETU have been delivering courses in agriculture and horticulture in conjunction with Kildalton College. Kildalton College delivers core agricultural and horticultural skills on these programmes. A free shuttle bus service operates between SETU Cork Road Campus and Kildalton College during academic semesters.

Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Agricultural Science (SE502)

This four year full time Level 8 programme aims to prepare students for a career in the areas of agricultural science and agri-business. Students on this course complete modules focused on agricultural production mainly in Year 2 and Year 3 at Kildalton College. Upon graduating students will have a strong background in the areas of science, food, agriculture, the environment, business and quality assurance. For more information on this course click here

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (SE508)

This three year level 7 programme aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage a modern commercial farm and expand the students' business, managerial, scientific and IT skills. Students on this course complete agriculture based modules at Kildalton College. For more information on this course click here

Students who have successfully completed a QQI FET/FETAC Advanced Level 6 Certificate in agriculture at Kildalton College or equivalent can apply for advanced transfer into year 2 of this programme via the CAO Advanced Entry System.

Bachelor of Science in Horticulture (SE506)

A three year full time course designed to train professional horticulturalists. Students study at both SETU Waterford and Teagasc Kildalton College. For more information on this course click here.

In the first year of this course students attend Kildalton College 3 days per week in semester 1 and 4 days per week in semester 2. During second year in semester 1 students study 4 days per week at Kildalton College. The second semester is spent on Professional Work Experience. During the third year, the number of days students attend Kildalton College varies depending on what elective modules they choose to study.

Students who have successfully completed the full Level 5 Certificate in Horticulture and Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Horticulture (with a minimum of a merit in one of these certificates) can apply for advance transfer into year 2 of this programme via the CAO Advance Entry System.

Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (MVB) (SE526)

This programme is due to commence in September 2026 and will provide students with focused scientific, clinical and professional training in the practice of veterinary medicine.
